Julius Caesar, 49-44 BC. Denarius (Silver, 18 mm, 3.86 g, 6 h), military mint moving with Caesar in Africa, 48-47. Diademed head of Venus to right. Rev. CAESAR Aeneas advancing left, carrying palladium in his right hand and Anchises on his left shoulder. Babelon (Julia) 10. Crawford 458/1. RBW 1600. Sydenham 1013. Lustrous, lightly toned and sharply struck, an exceptional example. The reverse struck slightly off center, otherwise, virtually as struck.
